Thank you for completing the assessment.

While your organization appears to have a solid foundation of core principles, there is room for growth. This reminds me of a challenging experience I detailed in my book Believe in Better. Early in my career, I faced a turning point that reshaped my approach to business and core principles.

During a pivotal meeting with a global insurance firm, the head of claims blindsided me with unexpected demands. He asked for rsums of our top talent, making it clear he was still upset about losing a valuable employee to our team. The atmosphere was tense, and I realized he was using this as leverage against us. Despite the aggression, I maintained my composure, championing our team and values.

After the meeting, it seemed we had lost the deal. But instead of walking away, I wrote a sincere letter to the head of claims, owning up to the situation and emphasizing our commitment to transparency and partnership. Months later, we re-engaged, and the energy had shifted. This led to securing a massive deal, proving that sticking to our core principles could turn a setback into a success.

One area for improvement you could consider is the clarity and communication of your core principles. My experience showed me the importance of explicit communication. Ensuring that all employees understand and can articulate your core values will strengthen your organizational culture. Ive also learned that distinct and practiced company values help us stand out in the market. Consider how you can make your principles more visible and actionable within your brand strategy.

Employee retention can be bolstered by providing more opportunities for practicing core values. Creating time and resources for your team to embrace their principles highlights the importance of this practice. Encourage your employees to actively engage with your core values in their daily work.

Finally, evaluate your approach to work-life balance. Respecting personal time, even amidst the demands of a growing business, is vital. Ensuring a healthy division between work and personal life for your team can lead to higher satisfaction and loyalty, ultimately benefiting your business.

If you are looking for insights into applying core principles to your work culture, I would humbly suggest you get a copy of Believe in Better. To help you get a sense of how I think about core values, Ive included a free chapter download on my website.
